Raipur, September 12, 2025: Preparations for Bastar Olympics have been started, as more than 40 thousand players from seven districts and 32 blocks of Bastar division will participate in the events likely to be held in October-November this year.
Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma today reviewed the preparations for Bastar Olympics in the meeting here.
Like last year, this year too, there was a detailed discussion on the outline and systematic preparations for organizing Bastar Olympics on a grand scale.

Official sources said that in the upcoming Bastar Olympics to be held in October-November, various sports competitions will be organized at three levels, block, district and division level.
Secretary of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Yashwant Kumar, Joint Secretary Sukhnath Ahirwar and Director Tanuja Salam also attended the meeting.
Deputy Chief Minister Sports and Youth Welfare Arun Sao said in the meeting that Bastar Olympics is not just an event of sports, but a confluence of development and sports. This is an initiative to empower the youth of Bastar in an organized manner and develop leadership in them.
The state government wants to connect the youth with sports and festivals by creating a fear-free environment in Bastar with these creative initiatives, he said.
Sao instructed to prepare a solid action plan in coordination with various departments for the successful organization of Bastar Olympics and implement the motto of the event ‘Karsay Ta Bastar Barsay Ta Bastar’ (Bastar will play, Bastar will win).

Sao had directed officials to actively involve the last year’s winning players declared youth icons, all the sports officials of Bastar division, PTI, Panchayat secretaries, women of ‘Bihan’ and sports associations to take the Bastar Olympics to the people.
Deputy Chief Minister Home Vijay Sharma told the officials of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department in the meeting that to make Bastar Olympics memorable, all departments should shoulder responsibilities as per their respective roles and functions. Participation of maximum number of players from Bastar will increase their confidence and create a positive environment.
He asked to ensure the participation of all the children of all the villages of Bastar by publicizing the Bastar Olympics extensively.
Sharma instructed to organize a meeting of the departments, officers and institutions related to it in Bastar soon to give a concrete shape to the preparations of the event so that it can be speeded up.
There will be competitions in 11 games, disabled persons from Naxal violence and surrendered Naxalites will also show their strength.
11 games have been included in the Bastar Olympics which will run for about one and a half months at the development block, district and division level. There will be competitions for boys and girls in the junior category and for men and women in the senior category.
For the disabled persons from Naxal violence and surrendered Naxalites, competitions for men and women will also be organized at the division level. During the Bastar Olympics, players from all over Bastar will show their sports skills in athletics, archery, badminton, football, hockey, weightlifting, karate, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball and tug of war.
