At least six workers died today in a horrific accident at a sponge iron factory in Bakulahi in Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh, while five workers were seriously injured and have been referred to Bilaspur for advanced treatment.

     Raipur, January 22, 2026: At least six workers died today in a horrific accident at a sponge iron factory in Bakulahi in Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh, while five workers were seriously injured and have been referred to Bilaspur for advanced treatment.

     Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai described the massive explosion at the sponge iron factory as extremely tragic and heartbreaking.

     Chief Minister Sai expressed deep condolences to the families of the workers who lost their lives in this accident and said that the state government stands with the affected families with full sensitivity and strength during this difficult time.

     He assured that all possible assistance would be provided to the bereaved families.

     Sai has instructed the Baloda Bazar district administration to ensure that there is no lapse in the treatment of the injured and that they are provided with the best possible medical facilities.

     He has also given clear instructions to ensure a factual investigation into the causes of the accident so that such incidents can be prevented in the future.

     The Chief Minister said that the safety of workers is the state government’s top priority and that any kind of negligence regarding the adherence to safety standards in industrial units will not be tolerated.
