2 Maoist killed in encounter with forces in Chhattisgarh

At least two Maoists were killed today in the interior forestry area of the Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh in an encounter with the security forces, a top police officer said.

     Raipur, January 29, 2026: At least two Maoists were killed today in the interior forestry area of the Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh in an encounter with the security forces, a top police officer said.

     “We have recovered two bodies of the Maoists so far during search operation,” the officer said.

     There has been intermittent firings between the security forces and the Maoists since 7 AM today, the top police officer said adding because of that he cannot provide the exact location of the gun battle or other sensitive details.

     However, he said on information of the presence of Maoists the security forces had cordoned off a forestry area in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh and both sides are engaged in firing.

     During the search operation two bodies of the Maoists have been recovered so far, the police officer said adding sophisticated weapons like AK-47 rifles, 09 MM pistols and others weapons and explosive materials have also been recovered.

     The weapons and explosives indicate presence of more Maoists in that area.
