Raipur, May 13, 2026: Working on the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today issued directives to reduce fuel consumption at the government level and to convert all government vehicles into Electric Vehicles (EVs) in a phased manner.

Endorsing Prime Minister Modi’s call for fuel conservation and the prudent use of resources in the national interest, Chief Minister Sai stated that, in this era of global energy crises and environmental challenges, the responsible utilisation of valuable resources—such as petrol and diesel—is a national duty incumbent upon us all.

Sai emphasised that energy conservation is not merely an economic necessity, but a critical issue intrinsically linked to ensuring a secure future for coming generations and protecting the environment.

The Chief Minister noted that, inspired by this very spirit, the State Government is undertaking concrete initiatives to curtail fuel consumption at the administrative level and to promote the judicious use of resources.

He announced that, henceforth, only essential vehicles would be included in his official motorcade during his tours. Furthermore, Ministers and office-bearers of various corporations and boards have also been urged to exercise restraint in their use of vehicles and other government resources.

The Chief Minister stated that the State Government would also work towards making the official transportation system more environmentally friendly. To this end, concrete measures will be initiated to convert all government vehicles into Electric Vehicles (EVs) in a phased manner.

He added that this step would not only result in fuel savings but also play a pivotal role in pollution control and in promoting green energy.

Sai appealed to the residents of the state to make maximum use of public transportation, adopt carpooling, and refrain from using private vehicles unnecessarily.

He remarked that by making small changes to our daily habits, we can bring about significant positive transformations. If every citizen accepts fuel conservation as a personal responsibility, this campaign has the potential to evolve into a widespread mass movement.

The Chief Minister concluded by stating that, driven by the spirit of “Nation First,” transforming fuel conservation into a campaign powered by public participation is the need of the hour. Calling upon the people of the state to fulfill their role as responsible citizens in the national interest, he stated that every conscious step would make a significant contribution to the country’s energy security, environmental conservation, and economic strength.
