Raipur, May 13, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today welcomed the Central Government’s decision to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 Kharif crops, including paddy, describing it as a historic step.

Welcoming the decision taken by the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to hike the MSP for 14 Kharif crops for the marketing year 2026-27, Chief Minister Sai stated that this marks a historic stride towards boosting farmers’ incomes, making agriculture profitable, and empowering the rural economy.

Sai remarked that the significant increase effected in the MSP for various Kharif crops, including paddy, clearly demonstrates the Central Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that farmers receive a fair price for their hard work.

He added that the historic hikes in the MSP for paddy over recent years have lent renewed strength to the dignity, confidence, and prosperity of the farmers.

The Chief Minister noted that the Chhattisgarh government, prioritising farmers’ interests above all else, is procuring paddy at the rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal, the highest rate in the country.

He stated that this is precisely why, alongside record-breaking paddy procurement in the state, farmers’ confidence in the government’s pro-farmer policies has continued to grow.

Chief Minister Sai affirmed that the government is working ceaselessly, driven by a resolve to ensure farmer welfare, agricultural advancement, and rural prosperity. He highlighted that both the Central and State governments are working in close coordination to economically empower farmers and to infuse new strength into the agricultural sector.

He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for this significant and visionary decision taken in the interest of farmers.
