     Raipur, June 29, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot today attended the Saint Kabir Mahotsav, organized on the occasion of Kabir Jayanti at the Sadguru Kabir Ashram in Sonpari, Raipur.

      During the event, they sought the blessings of Guru Asang Dev and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the state and the nation.

     Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh, and Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu also conveyed a message of environmental conservation by planting trees within the ashram premises.

     Guru Asang Dev stated that Saint Kabir incarnated to eradicate hypocrisy, social evils, and ostentation from society.

     He remarked that mutual love and dialogue are diminishing in contemporary society, which is a matter of concern. Urging people to make service, altruism, cow protection, tree plantation, and rural development the foundation of their lives, he emphasized that true happiness and spiritual contentment are attained only through service.

      Guru Asang Dev noted that areas once difficult to access due to Naxalism now enjoy peace and are witnessing a wave of development. Housing is being constructed for lakhs of the poor, and the state is entering a new era of progress.

      Addressing the gathering, Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot said that the message of truth, harmony, service to humanity, and goodwill propagated by Saint Kabir continues to serve as a guiding light for society and the nation.

     He inspired humanity to rise above caste distinctions, social hierarchies, and ostentation, and to follow the path of love, truth, and wisdom. He added that Saint Kabir’s teachings are more relevant than ever at a time when society is grappling with social divisions and moral challenges. Appreciating the work undertaken by the Sonpari Kabir Ashram in the fields of education, cow protection, environmental conservation, organic farming, social harmony, and public welfare, the Governor remarked that such ashrams strengthen the spirit of nation-building.

     Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai stated that Chhattisgarh is the land where Saint Kabir performed his spiritual penance and is a sacred ground for his followers. He mentioned that he spent his childhood amidst the Kabirpanthi community and that the teachings of Saint Kabir have profoundly influenced his life.

      Chief Minister Sai noted that Saint Kabir dedicated his entire life to raising public awareness against social evils, untouchability, the caste system, and hypocrisy. He fearlessly stood for the truth and guided society in a new direction through his simple yet impactful ideas.

     Sai remarked that even today, Kabir’s teachings inspire love, brotherhood, and harmony within society.

He stated that his government is continuously working to fulfill the guarantees made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He informed that approval has been granted for 1.8 million houses in the state, and the construction of over 1 million houses has already been completed.

     The Chief Minister said that a new era of peace and development has begun in areas previously affected by Naxalism, thanks to the courage of security forces and the support of the Central Government. He highlighted that a large number of people are benefiting from schemes such as the PM-JANMAN Yojana for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), the Mahtari Vandan Yojana for women, the Shri Ramlala Darshan Yojana, the Chief Minister’s Tirth Darshan Yojana, and the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

     Sai mentioned that the state government has launched the Chief Minister’s Helpline (1076) to ensure the speedy resolution of citizens’ grievances. Urging people to make the most of this facility, he assured that complaints would be resolved within a stipulated timeframe and that action would be taken against officials found negligent.

     He announced that the duration of the ‘Chief Minister’s Electricity Bill Payment Resolution Scheme’ would be extended by three months, enabling a greater number of consumers to clear their outstanding electricity bills while availing benefits such as surcharge waivers and other attractive provisions.

     Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh stated that the teachings of Saint Kabir awakened society against hypocrisy, untouchability, and social evils. He remarked that tree plantation is not merely an act of environmental conservation but a symbol of our responsibility towards future generations. He urged everyone to embrace Saint Kabir’s message of gentle demeanor, measured speech, and social reform.

     Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu said that the Guru is the one who shows the path to reach the Divine. Saint Kabir conveyed the message of following the path of truth and service while shunning hypocrisy and ostentation.    

     He noted that if Kabir’s ideas are incorporated into one’s life, the welfare of both society and the nation can be achieved.

     Cabinet Minister Guru Khushwant Saheb, MLAs Motilal Sahu and Indra Kumar Sahu, Chairman of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Rampratap Singh, Chairman of the Gau-Seva Aayog Visheshar Patel, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation Chandulal Sahu, Chairman of the Minorities Commission Amarjit Chhabra, Dr. Krishnamurti Bandhi, and Akhilesh Soni were present on the occasion, alongside a large number of saints, public representatives, and followers of the Kabirpanth.
