Raipur, August 09, 2026: In an effort to restart closed schools in formerly naxal affected Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district and bring children into the educational mainstream, the Primary School at Metapara, Korsaguda in Usur Block has resumed operations after 21 years.
Bijapur District Education Officer Rajesh Pandey stated that, due to the special efforts of the state government and district administration, 38 closed schools in the district have been reopened during the current academic session. Classes have commenced with the help of local resources and Shiksha-doots (education volunteers), reconnecting children who had been deprived of education for years with the school system.
The reopening of the school, initiated by Bijapur Collector Vishwadeep, created an atmosphere of joy in the village. The 25 children enrolling in the school received a warm welcome, complete with floral garlands. They were also provided with slates, books, and pencils, marking a fresh start to their academic journey.
Villagers and parents alike showed great enthusiasm at the reopening of the school after such a long hiatus. Children now have the opportunity to study within their own village, making access to education much easier than before.
While welcoming the children, Zila Panchayat member Shankaraiya Madvi encouraged them to attend school regularly and study diligently. He remarked that education forms the strongest foundation for a child’s bright future and that the reopening of schools is helping to shape the futures of children in remote areas.
The reopening of the Metapara Korsaguda school is not merely the opening of a single institution; it stands as proof that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the guidance of Minister-in-charge of Bijapur Kedar Kashyap, and the proactive initiatives of the district administration, the light of education is reaching children in remote regions.
