Raipur, September 06, 2026: The Chhattisgarh government has intensified preparations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Chhattisgarh.
Official sources stated that the high-level committee constituted to draft the UCC for the state has now moved to the grassroots level to foster social and administrative coordination.
As part of this strategy, a large-scale group discussion and introductory meeting is being organized on September 8 and 9 with district heads, intellectuals, and public representatives from all districts of the Durg division.
They noted that this dialogue process is being initiated with due consideration of the far-reaching implications and provisions of the Uniform Civil Code.
The two-day consultative process will feature meetings focused on the various districts of the Durg division.
Representatives from Durg, Balod, and Bemetara districts will participate in the meeting scheduled for September 8 at 12:00 PM in Durg.
Similarly, the meeting on September 9 at 12:00 PM in Rajnandgaon will see participation from the districts of Rajnandgaon, Kawardha, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki.
The committee has devised a comprehensive framework to ensure the participation of all sections of society in drafting the legislation.
Special invitations have been extended to political parties, social and religious organizations, academicians, representatives of corporations, boards, and commissions, as well as distinguished citizens.
The government stated that the primary objective of this exercise is to prepare an inclusive draft that safeguards the interests of every citizen in the state on both legal and social fronts.
