Raipur, July 21, 2025: After one Karan Sonwani of village Doma today attempted to self-immolation in the Dhamtari Collectorate premises over the delay in the approval of PM housing scheme (PM Awas Yojana), the district administration said that the eligible families will be given approval for PM housing only after verification.
The Dhamtari district administration has clarified today that the beneficiary families included in the Awas Plus Survey List 2.0 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) will be given housing approval as per the rules after verification.
The members of the beneficiary family included in the survey list neither need to worry nor be anxious about this, they said, according to a government release.
Dhamtari District Administration said that the name of Karan Sonwani is recorded in the ID 93358481 of the survey list of PM Awas Yojana (Rural) Awas Plus 2.0, but a situation of confusion was created when the youth Karan Sonwani checked his name in the checker software, due to which he attempted self-immolation, which was promptly stopped and foiled by the security personnel posted in the Collectorate premises.
The district administration has also clarified that the checker software checks randomly, due to which a situation of confusion was created in the mind of the youth.
Dhamtari Collector Avinash Mishra said that the beneficiaries included in the list of Awas Plus Survey 2.0 of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) are being verified. This work will be completed by July 31, 2025. After verification, the eligible families will be approved for housing under the rules and procedures.
The collector said that with the objective of resolving the problems and complaints of the common man and to ensure the implementation and transparency of government programmes and beneficiary-oriented schemes, Jandarshan Desk has been started by the district administration Dhamtari. Where people can directly put their problems before the officials on working days from Monday to Friday.
Dhamtari District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Roma Srivastava has informed that under the scheme, a survey of 84,439 beneficiary families has been done in Dhamtari district, out of which the verification work of 26 thousand 923 beneficiaries is in progress.
After the verification work of beneficiary families is completed, the eligible beneficiary will be approved for housing according to the priority order as per the rules.
