Raipur, March 22, 2009: Intensifying the poll campaign for the April 16 election, the Congress today demanded details of contribution made to the state by the BJP MPs.

“The BJP MPs from Chhattisgarh have done nothing. Why not they come forward and tell the people what have they done in the last five years,” senior Congress leader and party candidate from Raipur Parliamentary seat Bhupesh Baghel told reporters at the Raipur Press Club.

The former Deputy Opposition Leader also claimed that the sitting BJP Raipur MP Ramesh Bais had done nothing for the people.

Replying to a question, he said the Congress would highlight both the local and the national issues to woo voters in all the eleven Lok Sabha seats and reverse the trend of 2004 poll, in which the Congress managed to get one seat where as BJP almost swiping the poll captured ten out of eleven seats of Chhattisgarh.

Baghel also refused to take the issue of his recent defeat from Patan segment seriously saying, Atal Behari Vajpayee, Raman Singh and even Ajit Jogi had also lost the election and fought the subsequent polls.

He also dismissed the allegation of the BJP that he was an outsider and a resident of Durg district and contesting the poll from Raipur. The Congress leader said he was born in Raipur and spent his childhood from here. Politically also he was quite active in the capital city hence he can never be called outsider, Baghel said.
