     Kanker, November 25, 2022: The Chhattisgarh administration has declared the voting day December 5 as a holiday in the Bhanupratappur assembly segment area.

     Bhanupratappur assembly segment is witnessing a by-poll on December 5 and on the voting day the district administration has declared it a holiday, officials said today.

     On direction from the General Administration Department, the Kanker District Collector Dr Priyanka Shukla has notified December 5 as a holiday.

     The holiday is only applicable in the Bhanupratappur assembly constituency area, they said.

     Sitting Congress MLA and Deputy Assembly Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi passed away on October 16 last after a massive cardiac arrest.

    The by-election is scheduled on December 5 to fill the vacancy, in which Congress has fielded Mandavi’s widow Savitri Mandavi whereas BJP preferred its former MLA Brahmanand Netam.

     A total of seven candidates are trying their luck in the by-poll.
