Raipur, February 24, 2011: Chhattisgarh government today announced handing over the sensational shot dead case of eminent journalist of Bilaspur Sushil Pathak to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
It was a serious matter, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said referring to the shot dead of Pathak at Bilaspur.
Replying to a debate on the vote of thanks to the Governor for his address, the Chief Minister said the matter would be sent to the CBI for further investigation.
Various quarters, including legislators in the state assembly have expressed their reservation over the finding of the Chhattisgarh police in the murder case of Pathak.
Pathak was shot dead by unidentified assailants when he was parking his vehicle near his house in Bilaspur after returning from duty from his Dainik Bhaskar press on December 19, last.
Main opposition Congress had on February 21, last pulled up the Police Department for having failed to solve the Pathak case and demanded a CBI probe into the incident in the Chhattisgarh Assembly and having failed to get a favourable answer finally staged a walkout from the house.
Even after 55 days of the incident, the police had failed to arrest the accused, who are involved in the killing of the journalist, they said and after the state government, through Parliamentary Secretary Vijay Baghel, refused to order a CBI probe into the incident, had staged a walk out from the state assembly.
