     Raipur, June 03, 2010: Government of India today sanctioned Rs 105 crore to construction of roads under the Pradhan Mantra Gram Sadak Yojana, officials said.

     Central Ministry of Rural Development has released the grant in aid worth Rs 105 crore as part payment of first installment of Phase-VIII, for construction of rural roads in Chhattisgarh under the PMGSY, official sources said.

     The amount is from the special window created in National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)  under RIDF as grants in aid to the Chhattisgarh Rural Roads Development Agency (CGRRDA), they said.

     CGRRDA is the agencies executing the works taken up under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the state.

     PMGSY is a 100 per cent centrally sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in the rural areas of the country.

     PMGSY envisages connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the rural areas and about 250 persons and above in respect of the hilly states, tribal areas and desert areas through good and all weather roads.
