     Raipur, February 4, 2023: The ambitious scheme of providing medicines in a cheaper rate to the people has started yielding good results in Chhattisgarh, official sources said today.

     People have able to save Rs 81.97 crore by purchasing medicines from Dhanwantari Generic Medical Stores, official sources said.

    The effort of the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has started yielding good result and the Generic Medicine stores are being proved as life saving scheme for the people, they added.

     Expansion and extension of medical facilities have been on the top of priorities of the state Congress government, led by Chief Minister Baghel.

     In the generic medical stores medicines of famous brands are being available in 50 to 70 per cent cheaper than the branded medicines.

     Besides common diseases like cough and cold, medicines for serious diseases, anti-biotic medicines and surgical items are available on cheaper rates.

      The Dhanwantari Medicine Stores Scheme was started on October 20, 2021 and so far 194 such stores have been opened in 169 urban areas of Chhattisgarh.

      The Medicine stores scheme was started by the Urban Development Department of the state.

     So far Rs 135.33 crore MRP worth of medicines have been prescribed by various doctors and the people of the state have been benefitted of Rs 81.97 crore, they said.
