     Raipur, February 10, 2013: A visiting delegation of Parliamentary committee was today informed by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh that the state was not agree to the proposal of the Centre for cash subsidy in Public Distribution System.

     “Chhattisgarh Government is not agreed to the proposal of the Central government to transfer cash subsidy in the bank account instead of food grain in the PDS,” Chief Minister Singh told the delegation.

     The members of Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture were currently on a tour of the state.

     “The cash subsidy is practically not possible looking into the crore of beneficiaries in the PDS,” he said.

     Since 2004 Chhattisgarh government was successfully running the PDS in the state, Singh said.
     The visitors were also briefed about the Core PDS, Food Security Act of Chhattisgarh and a separate budget for farmers in the state.

     Shivanand Tiwari, Rajaiya Sirsila, Sukhdev Singh Libra, Narayan Singh Amlawe, S Thangavelu, A Ilavarasan, Sanjay Singh Chauhan and P Pradhan, all members of the committee and Agriculture Minister Chandrasekhar Sahu and Chief Secretary Sunil Kumar were present during the meeting.
