     Raipur, December 15, 2024: A delegation led by Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries State President Amar Parwani submitted a memorandum to State GST Commissioner Pushpendra Kumar Meena regarding simplification in GST, e-way bill and to extend the date of Format-18 annual statement in the VAT Act.

     President Parwani, General Secretary Ajay Bhasin, Treasurer Uttamchand Golchha, Executive President Rajendra Jaggi, Vikram Singh Deo, Ram Mandhan, Manmohan Aggarwal stated that a meeting of various trade-industrial organizations and officials was held in the Chamber Bhawan to give suggestions in the 55th GST Counseling meeting.

     In this connection, yesterday the Chamber delegation led by President Parwani met the State GST Commissioner Pushpendra Kumar Meena and submitted a memorandum for suggestions regarding GST simplification and e-way bill for the 55th GST Council meeting to be held on December 21, 2024 and for extending the date of Format-18 Annual Statement in the VAT Act.

     On this occasion, GST Additional Commissioners Prateek Jain and TR Dhurve were also present.

     Parwani said that a meeting of various trade-industrial organizations and officials was held in the Chamber Bhawan to give suggestions for GST simplification in the 55th GST Council meeting to be held on 21 December 2024 and to address the problems faced by the traders of the state regarding GST, in which various suggestions were received regarding GST simplification, which were prominently listed by the Chamber.

     The main suggestion are the provision of input tax credit being validated on the basis of GSTR 2B should be withdrawn. If the buyer provides all the documents related to the purchase and all the proofs related to the payment, then the department should take action against the seller and reconsider the minimum penalty.

     It has been learned from the information received from various institutions and traders that if the goods are caught by the officer in any other state other than the registered place, then to release those goods, an appeal has to be filed in the state where the goods have been caught, which is not practical, he said.

     Reduce the rate of GST and one business one tax formula be adopted.

     Chamber President Parwani further demanded not to change the previous notification related to e-way bill under Ease of Doing Business.

     The Chamber informed the State GST Commissioner about the increase in complexities related to the number of e-way bills and compliance. Due to the removal of the currently available exemption, the pending number of e-way bills is increasing every day. Due to which additional workload will increase on the GST department and the objective of ease of doing business is also getting harmed. Also, small traders are facing various types of difficulties.

     He also urged State GST Commissioner Meena to extend the date for submission of Form-18 annual statement under the VAT Act till February 2025 for the year 2022-23, and also to extend the date till March 2025 for the financial year 2023-24 and to end the requirement of VAT audit so that the government can get more revenue and the businessmen who could not file by the earlier due date of November 30, 2023 can get its benefit.

     The members of the Chamber said that the State GST Commissioner has taken a positive approach on these subjects and has promised to take necessary steps.
