Raipur, September 3, 2016: Chhattisgarh government has asked a prominent BJP leader Nand Kumar Sai to vacate his government accommodation at Raipur, immediately after he retires from Rajya Sabha.

In a letter State Home Department has asked Sai to vacate his Devendra Nagar B-type quarter “since he is no longer a Rajya Sabha MP and also there is a shortage of government quarters at the capital city”.

Meanwhile, Sai said several people have been allotted quarters even after their tenure and he was not aware why he has been asked to vacate the accommodation.

“People, who have served the notice, are in a better position to tell why it was issued to me,” the Tribal leader commented.

Sai also indicated he would discuss the matter with the state BJP President Dharam Lal Kaushik saying he was not aware, what was the decision of the party on that matter as he could not talk to the state BJP President on the issue.

Interestingly Additional Secretary Home of Chhattisgarh Tanuja Salam has also marked a copy of the notice to State General Administration Department besides Executive Engineer PWD and Superintending Engineer Electricity.

Even when he was the Rajya Sabha member, state government had attempted to vacate the government accommodation from him, without assigning any reason, his supporters claimed adding rules should be applied to all and not in a choose and pick manner.

BJP insiders are trying to understand the intention of the notice as in quick succession recently Sai was denied re-nomination to Rajya Sabha and then was dropped from the powerful Core Committee of the state BJP.

“This third shock (notice) is definitely sending a message to mend his ways as he has been quite frank in expressing his views on the policies of the state BJP government,” a BJP insider told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.

Sai was in the race for Chief Ministership when BJP came to power in 2003. As a result of that BJP leadership had decided to put him outside the state by first making him Lok Sabha member and then Rajya Sabha member.

However, couple of month back, when he retired from Rajya Sabha, instead of re-nominating him, the party picked up a defeated MLA Ram Vichar Netam and then the tribal leader was also dropped from the Core Committee of the state party unit to put him into size.

Nand Kumar Sai is a former President of undivided Madhya Pradesh state BJP and was also the first Leader of Opposition of Chhattisgarh Assembly.
