Bilaspur, April 19, 2012: Chhattisgarh Government today failed to submit its reply before the state High Court on the new reservation policy and sought more time for that.

Taking two petitions against the new reservation policy of the state government, the High Court today given ten more days to the state to submit its replay and extended the stay on the order up to that date.

On January 18, 2012, the state government had issued an order decreasing the reservation for Scheduled Caste to 12 from 16 per cent and also giving 32 per cent to Scheduled Tribes and 14 per cent to Other Backward Classes.

Challenging that order of the state government H R Bhatpahare and another person had approached the High Court on the ground that the new reservation policy was touching 58 per cent when it should not exceed more than 50 per cent as per the order of the Supreme Court.

After a preliminary hearing on April 13, last the High Court had stayed execution of the reservation order and fixed the next date of hearing for April 19. Today the Additional Advocate General requested the double bench for ten more days to submit reply.
