     Ambikapur, July 8, 2009: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today launched his ambitious Re 1 per kg rice to poor from Parsa village near here in Sarguja district.

     The poorest people would now be getting 35 kg rice at the rate of Rupee one per kg every month, the Chief Minister said in a function here.

     The poor families would also get free iodised salt from the state government every month through the Public Distribution System, he said.

     About 35 lakh poor families of the state would be benefitted from the Re 1 and Rs 2 rice and free salt schemes, he said.

     The Mukshya Mantri Khadyanna Sahayata Yojana has been started by the state government so that no one from the state would go to bed without food, no mother or children would be malnourished, he said.

     The Chief Minister also said the scheme would help the state in curbing migration of poor people to other states in search of bread and butter.

     Under this scheme, 7.19 lakh families would get 35 Kg rice at the rate of Re 1 and 29.89 lakh families would be getting 35 kg rice at Rs 2, whereas all of them would get two Kg salt free of cost every month.
