Bilaspur, September 24, 2008: South East Central Railway Zone has achieved a new success in both the passenger and goods transportations.
The SECR has achieved much better success in both passenger and goods transport this season compared to last year, SECR General Manager Pradeep Kumar told a two-day meeting of the Departmental Heads here today.
The Railway Board had fixed the target this year of attracting 94.21 million passengers and till August 2008 it had succeeded in getting 41.55 million passengers, which was more than 7.14 million from the same time last year, he said.
Similarly, on the goods transport front also the figure was satisfactory as against the target of 133.5 million tonnes the Bilaspur zone had succeeded in transporting 52.77 million tonnes till August 2008, which was 4.3 million tonnes more than the figures of the same period last year.
The Divisional Railway Managers of Bilaspur, Raipur and Nagpur also discussed their achievements and problems in that meeting, in which the GM had also asked the officials to pay extra attention to the unmanned level crossings of the zone, railways sources said.
