Raipur, September 15, 2026: Today turned out to be an unexpectedly special day for Meera, who sells earthen lamps from a roadside stall in the capital. Like any other day, she was waiting for customers with her lamps arranged at her small stall. Suddenly, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s convoy stopped right next to her stall.
Chief Minister Sai inspected the earthen lamps displayed at Meera’s stall at Telibandha Marine Drive in Raipur and purchased one lamp for the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ (Lamp of Blessings) programme, which is being organized as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign).
Sai gave the woman one thousand rupees. This spontaneous gesture by the Chief Minister conveyed a message of respect for the hard work, dignity, and self-reliance of Meera, who earns her livelihood through a small local business.
The Chief Minister’s sudden visit to the small roadside stall came as a pleasant surprise to the people nearby. Without any formality, the Chief Minister inquired about Meera’s work and the well-being of her family.
During the conversation, Sai asked Meera whether she was receiving the benefits of public welfare schemes run by the Central and State governments.
In response to the Chief Minister’s question, Meera mentioned that she had opened a bank account under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana. She also informed the Chief Minister that she was receiving one thousand rupees every month under the State Government’s Mahtari Vandan Yojana.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness upon hearing from the woman that she was availing the benefits of these schemes.
The earthen lamp purchased by Sai from Meera will become part of the ‘Aashirwad ka Diya’ programme, organized under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. Through this programme, an effort is being made to link the collective resolve for service, public welfare, and development with public participation.
The Chief Minister stated that Prime Minister Modi has dedicated 25 years of his public life to the service of the nation and the people. The ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ is being organized from September 17, the Prime Minister’s birthday, to October 17.
This campaign is an opportunity to further strengthen the commitment to service, good governance, the welfare of the poor, and development through public participation, he said.
The Chief Minister called upon the people of the state to join the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ with full enthusiasm and a sense of personal connection.
