Raipur, May 06, 2026: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has taken an extremely serious view of the attempted abduction incident involving senior social worker and Padma Shri awardee Phoolbasan Bai Yadav in Rajnandgaon.
This morning, Chief Minister Sai personally spoke with Phoolbasan Bai Yadav over the telephone to inquire about her well-being and to gather details regarding the incident.
Sai gave assurances that every aspect of this matter would be subjected to a thorough investigation. He affirmed that the culprits—whoever they may be—would not be spared.
He stated that necessary directives in this regard have been issued to the police administration.
Expressing satisfaction with the prompt action taken by the police following the incident, Padma Shri Phoolbasan Yadav conveyed her gratitude to Chief Minister Sai and the police administration.
Sources said that Khushboo Sahu, a woman hailing from Bemetara, arrived at Phoolbasan Bai’s residence in Sukuldaihan, Rajnandgaon, yesterday at 10:30 AM to meet her. Khushboo was accompanied by three other individuals. During the visit, they told Phoolbasan Bai Yadav that a differently-abled woman sitting in a car outside wished to take a selfie with her. When Phoolbasan entered the car, it sped away rapidly. The accused allegedly tied her hands, gagged her with a piece of cloth, and drove off with her.
Meanwhile, a traffic police team conducting routine vehicle checks on the Rajnandgaon-Khairagarh road intercepted the car near the Chikhli police outpost.
The accused claimed to the police personnel that the woman—whose hands were tied and mouth gagged—was an epilepsy patient; however, one of the police officers recognized Phoolbasan Bai Yadav and successfully rescued her.
