     Kawardha, February 03, 2016: Kawardha Municipality today dismissed a news item, in which it was claimed that the holding tax had been estimated on the Kawardha residence of the Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh was stand at a whopping Rs 17,000.

     A section of media had reported that the Kawardha Municipality has fixed the holding tax of the residence of Chief Minister Rs 17,000 when it should have been Rs 4000.

     However, through a release Kawardha Municipal Chairperson Devkumar Chandrawanshi and the CEO said the media report was totally wrong and baseless.

     As per the rule of 2015-2016 the holding tax for the ground floor of the residence of Chief Minister was estimated to be Rs 22 per square feet and for the first floor it has been fixed at Rs nine per Sq Ft. By totally both the floor it was Rs 3,948.

     This Rs 3,948 is a hike of Rs 1,567 from the previous year as in the Fiscal 2014-2015 the holding tax for the ground floor was Rs 15 and for the first floor of the Chief Minister it was Rs seven rupees, thus totaling an amount of Rs 2381, the release said.
