Raipur, September 29, 2016: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today congratulated Indian Army and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the surgical strike by Indian forces in Pakistan territory to eliminate terrorists and dismantle their training camps across the border.
“I congratulate the brave Indian soldiers and the army leadership for giving a befitting reply to terrorists across LoC,” Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said.
Also congratulating the Prime Minister he said “This decisive action amply demonstrates Narendra Modiji’s iron will and commitment to safeguard India”.
Addressing the State BJP Executive Meeting at Bastar divisional headquarters Jagdalpur, Singh also congratulated Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for the surgical strike by Indian army in Pakistan territory the previous night.
“Whether Bastar or across the border of India, our jawans will strike in all those places to eliminate Maoists and terrorists” Singh said amid applause from the party leaders.
The Chhattisgarh BJP state Executive also congratulates the Indian Army for their action, the Chief Minister said.
BJP is having its state executive in Bastar after 13 years, in the back drop of hyper Maoists activities and violent clashes in that region.
Maoists are active in Bastar for over three decades, where security forces, including ITBP, BSF and CRPF are locked in a deadly war with the left wing extremists, in which even civilians are being killed and thousands of people have been forces to migrate to safer places.
There was both demand from local people and a section of the society and apprehension from the Maoists that the government may deploy Indian army to combat the situation, although the Army was expressively reluctant to be dragged into the situation saying its hands are full and was not interested to get into any internal conflict with in the country.
However, CRPF, BSF and ITBP are deployed in Bastar and adjoining areas of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to assist the local police. The Central forces have even raised their own intelligence network to conduct surgical strikes on Maoist hideouts after the April 6, 2010 incident, in which 75 CRPF personnel of the 62nd Battalion and one police man from the District Force were killed by Maoists in an encounter at Tadmetla area under the Chintagupha police station of Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh.
