Raipur, September 18, 2016: Janjgir-Champa district police in Chhattisgarh has allegedly killed a scheduled caste youth in its custody, which was condemned by many people today.
“Satish Kumar Narange had gone to the Mulmula electricity office and demanded restoration of power in his locality as there was no electricity in his Sagarpara area of Mulmula police station for the last one week. However, he was picked up by the local police and subsequently found dead in Police custody on Saturday,” Leader of Opposition T S Singhdeo said today.
The dalit youth went to the Mulmula electricity office for early restoration of power and if that was not happened he would complaint to the higher officials, Narange told the electricity officials there, Singhdeo said adding the local electricity officials had informed the police and in returned he was taken to police station.
“He was assaulted severely in the police station, which could be evident from the visible injury marks on various parts of his body,” the Leader of Opposition said.
“How come the administration has become so intolerant that a dalit was killed for complaining about something, when the job of the administration is to solve issues relating to the people,” questioned the Congress leader while strongly condemning the incident.
He also demanded stern action against the accused police staff.
