Raipur, July 21, 2010: Bad news for the users of the Direct to Home service in Chhattisgarh.
Chhattisgarh Government had brought DTH under the entertainment tax net like the cable service, officials said today.
As per the new notification of the Finance Department, entertainment tax would be levied as per the population of the city.
There would not have any tax for the people living in a population of less than ten thousand.
However, the Tax would be Rs 10 for cities having a population between 10,000 and 50,000 where as population above that would have to pay Rs 20 every month, they said.
The Government, however, clarified that the tax would be realised not from the user but the dealer of the DTH service provider.
