Raipur, September 17, 2008: Chhattisgarh today experienced the first real monsoon of this season, which brought the normal life to a stand still since afternoon.
Due to the downpour many areas of the capital city were also submerged, exposing the claim of the state government of its preparedness to meet any eventuality.
Electricity supply was disrupted in many parts and flood waters had entered the houses in several localities of the state capital.
Meanwhile Weather Department sources said heavy rainfall was experiencing through out the state with some areas were having heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Kanker, Janjgir-Champa, Raipur, Durg, Dhamtari, Sarguja, Raigarh are the worst hit by the heavy rainfall, the Weatherman said.
Road communications in some areas had also been adversely affected due to rainfall as rainwaters had submerged the roads and even national highways in some places, state Revenue Department sources said.
However, police said no death or injury had been reported from any where due to rain related incidents.
