Korba, December 21, 2011: Chhattisgarh Pollution Control Board has issued notices to the Chairman of the National Thermal Power Corporation for polluting river and dumping fly ash.
The Board had taken the action of the NTPC to dump fly ash on the river bank of Charpara seriously and issued notices, Board officials said.
On receiving a report that the NTPC was treating the river bank as a dumping ground, Regional Officer of the Pollution Control Board B S Thakur visited the spot and found the central PSU was polluting the river.
When dumping continued even after the Board official pulled up the NTPC authority, the Chairman cum Managing Director of the NTPC was issued notices, they said.
