Raipur, April 08, 2026: On the occasion of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, Gram Sabhas will be convened at all Gram Panchayat headquarters and their constituent villages across Chhattisgarh, officials said today.

In accordance with the directives of the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development, Chhattisgarh, it is mandatory to organize Gram Sabhas (Village Assemblies) on specific dates designated throughout the year.

As per the issued directives, it will be mandatory to create a video recording—not exceeding 15 minutes in duration—of the decisions taken during the Gram Sabha; this recording must subsequently be uploaded to the “Gram Sabha Nirnay” (Gram Sabha Decisions) mobile app.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, has developed a new AI-based portal named “Sabhasar” to streamline and technologically strengthen the proceedings of Gram Sabhas. Details regarding the proceedings of the Gram Sabha will be generated through this portal.

Instructions have been issued to ensure that details regarding all activities related to the Gram Sabha are uploaded—with 100 per cent compliance—to the “Vibrant Gram Sabha Portal.” This order shall come into effect immediately.

It is noteworthy that the State Government has established a provision making it mandatory to organize a Gram Sabha in every village—in addition to the fixed dates of January 23 (Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti), April 14 (Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Jayanti), August 20 (Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi), and October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti)—on convenient dates during the months of June and November.
