Bilaspur, January 21, 2012: The new Inspector General of Police of Bilaspur G P Singh has expressed strong displeasure over the style of policing in Bilaspur district.
In a meeting with the officials of the district, the IG has pulled up the police for its attitude towards controlling crimes in the district, officials said here today.
Taking a tough posture, the new IGP has also asked all the police officers to start foot patrolling in the evening as a measure to instill fear among the criminals.
Police would take foot patrolling from 6 PM to 9 PM in their respective police station areas without fail, IG Singh said.
Bilaspur police had been attracting criticism for having failed to control crime in the judicial capital of the state and was even pulled up by the High Court on its collapsed traffic system.
On the other hand, Bilaspur Lok Sabha MP Dillip Singh Ju Deo had termed the action of local police as administrative terrorism for harassing ruling BJP workers.
