Raipur, January 29, 2012: Adopting an innovative method, Chhattisgarh Government today decided to distribute stipend to lakhs of students through ATM type cards.
About 27 lakh students would get their stipends through ATM type cards from next fiscal, Tribal Department officials said here.
After the Tribal Department made a presentation about the online scholarship and stipend system today, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh approved that proposal.
Currently the state has about 1000 ATMs and students can withdraw their stipends through any of those ATMs using their “Sikshya Sangi Chhatrabritti Card”, they said.
The programme would be launched from July of the next academic session.
