New Delhi, January 18, 2012: Maoists violence-hit Jharkhand was again today put under President rule and the Government of India has appointed former Director General of CRPF Vijay Kumar as advisor.
The President today proclaimed the imposition of President’s rule in Jharkhand under Article 356(1) of the Constitution, official sources said.
The Union Cabinet yesterday had approved the proposal President rule in Jharkhand, while keeping the State Legislative Assembly under suspended animation, they added.
Meanwhile the Centre has appointed former CRPF Director General Vijay Kumar and former Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta as Advisors to the Governor of Jharkhand.
The State was brought under central rule as the BJP led government collapsed after JMM withdrew support demanding vacant of the chair of the Chief Minister for them in a rotation system to rule the state.
