New Delhi, January 24, 2024: President Droupadi Murmu today appointed Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale as a judge of the Supreme Court.
Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale is currently the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (2) of Article 124 of the Constitution of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Prasanna Bhalachandra Varale, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, as Judge of the Supreme Court of India,” a government of India communiqué said.
He is appointed with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office, it added.
