Raigarh, January 27, 2012: A senior Maoist leader was today killed in a gun battle in industrial district of Raigarh, Chhattisgarh Police said.
In an encounter between police and Maoists, one male Maoist was killed in Kharramal area under Dungripali police out post, about 70 km from the district headquarters, top police officials told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
The incident took place under Baramkela police station area, close to the border of Bargarh district in Odisha, they said.
“The killed Maoist could be a Divisional Committee Member or Commander as one AK-47 and three magazines, wireless sets and cell phones have also been recovered from the encounter site,” after visiting the area, a senior police officer said.
Combing operation was continuing in that area to apprehend other Maoists, police added.
