Dantewada/Raipur, November 08, 2012: In a daring incident, Maoists today attacked senior Congress leader of Chhattisgarh Mahendra Karma in his native Dantewada district and land mined his vehicle.
“The Maoists triggered a land mine blast targetting the vehicle of Karma and also opened indiscriminate firing when he was travelling from his native village Pharaspal to Dantewada,” a senior police official told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com.
In that incident four people, including Karma are injured and looking into his condition the driver has been shifted to Jagdalpur, they said.
“I am fine,” Karma said after the incident.
However, a CT Scan has been advised by the doctors, sources said adding he is being flown to Raipur for a detailed check up.
The incident took place when Karma was travelling with a convoy of seven, same coloured same type, vehicles.
But the Maoists targetted the forth vehicle, in which the Congress leader was travelling, damaging the vehicle from the front.
Since it was a bullet proof vehicle, the damage was minor, police said.
Karma has been in the hit list of Maoists for the over a decade, because of which he had been provided Z-Plus security. Extra caution had also been taken after the start of the Salwa Judum in 2005, which he led from the front, to campaign against the Maoists in the state.
