Raipur, June 10, 2009: Bihar State Food and Civil Supply Minister Narendra Singh has whole heartedly praised the public distribution system of Chhattisgarh and said he would implement that in his state.

After a presentation by the Food Department officials, the Bihar Minister met the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh yesterday and praised the domestic PDS Model, officials said today.

He was keen to know the online system, through which any one can access the details of ration cards issued, allotment and lifting of PDS items, procurement and payment of paddy in Chhattisgarh among others.

During the discussion, Chief Minister informed the guest that a new pattern of PDS would be implemented in Chhattisgarh from July, in which 7.12 lakh poorest families would be getting subsidised 35 kg rice for just Rupee one per kg and the rest 30 lakh poor families with Rs 2 per kg rice.

However, all those families would be getting Iodised salt free of cost, the Chief Minister said, which impressed the Bihar Minister.
