Dantewada, April 11, 2011: After Bastar, the Dantewada District authority has also expressed desire to shift at least 35 booths to safer places for fear of Maoists violence.
For successful election, a proposal is being sent to the Election Commission to shift 35 sensitive booths of Dantewada district, officials said here today.
Of the 35 booths, 23 belonged to Konta assembly constituency where as 12 belonged to Dantewada segment, they said.
After the direction of the Election Commission new polling booths would be decided, the officials said.
Apprehensive about violence during the poll, the district administration of Bastar also wanted to change the location of some of the polling booths.
Fearing poll violence, it had been suggested that two or more booths should be clubbed together and the new location should be made in a safer place, they said.
