Jagdalpur, April 6, 2010: At least 20 security personnel were killed today and five injured in two separate attacks carried out by the outlawed Maoists guerrilla in hyper sensitive Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh, police said.
“In two separate incidents of attack of Maoists at least 20 security forces personnel were killed and five injured in Dantewada district,” Bastar Inspector General of Police T J Long Kumer told ChhattisgarhTopNews.com.
The incident took place in Chintalnar area of Dantewada district.
Maoists attacked a CRPF party when it was on an operation, in which two of the security forces were killed and when additional forces were trying to reach the spot, they were also surrounded and attacked from all side in which about 18 other security forces were killed and five injured, said the IGP.
Among the killed were an officer also, he said.
The top police officer of the area said more forces have been rushed to the spot and more details are awaited.
