Raipur, October 6, 2025: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today met the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and discussed several important issues.

The meeting featured fruitful discussions on several important topics, including the naming of naval ships, defence sector development, the organization of Army recruitment rallies across the state, and the expansion of Bilaspur Airport, official sources said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s cultural identity and glorious traditions, stating that Chhattisgarh’s rivers—Indravati and Mahanadi—are not just water sources but the soul of the state.

Sai suggested that whenever the Ministry of Defence launches new naval ships or vessels, some of them should be named after Chhattisgarh’s rivers and regions, such as INS Indravati, INS Mahanadi, or INS Bastar.

This would not only be symbolically beautiful but would also bring honour to Chhattisgarh’s cultural identity at the national and international levels, he said.

The Chief Minister also underlined that there is a special enthusiasm among the youth in Chhattisgarh to join the Army. He stated that the state’s youth possess discipline, physical fitness, and a sense of patriotism. Based on this, he urged the Defence Minister to organize special “Army Recruitment Rallies” across the state, providing youth with the opportunity to serve the nation in their own state.

During the meeting, Sai informed Defence Minister Singh that the Ministry of Defence owns land in Bilaspur. He requested that this land be made available for the expansion of Bilaspur Airport. The Chief Minister also urged Singh to initiate defence-related development projects here.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister informed about the state government’s plans to promote defence and electronics manufacturing under the new industrial policy. He stated that this policy is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “self-reliant India” and will increase opportunities for high-tech training, research, and private investment in Chhattisgarh.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu and Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh were also present on the occasion.
