Raipur, April 04, 2026: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today said that a new chapter has now begun in Bastar. There are no longer any ‘Red Corridors’ anywhere; instead, ‘Green Corridors’ stretch in every direction. With this very confidence and resolve, Chhattisgarh is marching forward toward a bright and prosperous future.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the martyred soldiers, and the people of Bastar on the occasion of Chhattisgarh becoming free from Maoist terror on March 31, 2026, Sai remarked that this achievement is not merely the result of the government’s efforts, but rather the outcome of the collective resolve of the entire nation, the security forces, and the people of Bastar.
He began by expressing his deep appreciation for the courageous and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, whose guidance, determination, and constant inspiration provided direction to this decisive campaign against Maoist violence.
Sai also recalled the message delivered by the Prime Minister in Dantewada in 2015, wherein he had called upon the youth to abandon the path of violence and urged them to approach matters from a humanitarian perspective.
The Chief Minister also extended his special thanks to Home Minister Shah, hailing him as the principal architect behind the strategy for the eradication of Maoism. He noted that Shah had taken a solemn pledge in Raipur to eliminate Maoism by March 31, 2026—a pledge that has now been fulfilled with unwavering determination. Under his leadership, the security forces received clear directives, necessary resources, and constant encouragement; furthermore, he conveyed an unequivocal message that while violence would be met with firm resolve, those who chose to embrace the path of peace would be welcomed.
Bastar’s New Story Written in the Martyrdoms: Chief Minister Sai
Offering a heartfelt tribute to the martyred soldiers, the Chief Minister stated that their supreme sacrifice has laid the very foundation for this historic success. He also expressed his profound gratitude to the brave personnel of the security forces who, with immense courage and resolve—and without regard for their own safety—struck at the very roots of Maoism.
He further expressed his special gratitude to the people of Bastar, affirming that their unwavering trust served as the greatest strength driving this transformative change. He recalled an era when threats of finger amputation were issued against those who dared to cast their votes; yet, undeterred, the people fearlessly strengthened the foundations of democracy. It was this very public trust that proved decisive in establishing a leadership which, within a single decade, successfully resolved this formidable challenge.
For years, a violent Maoist ideology inflicted immense suffering upon countless families—mothers were left bereft, sisters widowed, and innocent children deprived of their fathers’ protective presence, even as thousands of soldiers sacrificed their lives to safeguard the nation’s defense and internal security. This struggle stood not merely as a conflict involving the security forces, but as a testament to the collective fortitude and unwavering resolve of the entire nation.
He stated that following the formation of the government at the Centre in 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, work commenced on a decisive and meticulously planned strategy to combat Maoist violence. Consequently, while several states across the country were liberated from this menace, the problem persisted in Chhattisgarh and its neighboring regions. Against this backdrop—and under the guidance and blessings of the Prime Minister—the formation of a “Double Engine” government in the state paved the way for the complete eradication of this armed Maoist scourge over the past two and a half years, driven by the power of collective resolve.
Sai further noted that the state government has extended a welcoming hand to those who have renounced the path of Maoist violence and reaffirmed their faith in the Constitution and the democratic framework. He emphasized that this transformation is not solely the outcome of security operations, but rather the fruition of coordinated efforts encompassing trust-building, rehabilitation, and development.
He assured the people of the state that upholding the public’s trust would remain the government’s paramount priority.
The Chief Minister declared that a new chapter has now begun in the Bastar region—one in which children will attend school without fear, mothers and sisters will be able to live their lives with freedom and dignity, and the light of development will reach every single village.
Sai affirmed that the era of the “Red Corridor” is over; now, in its place, lies a “Green Corridor” stretching in every direction. Fueled by this very confidence and resolve, Chhattisgarh is marching forward toward a bright and prosperous future.
