     Jagdalpur, November 07, 2012: President of India Pranab Mukherjee today visited the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram at Narayanpur in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh and praised its activities.

     The services being rendered by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Narayanpur for the socio-economic development of the people of Abujhmad are exemplary, Mukherjee said.

     The President was addressing a function to mark the completion of 25 years of the Mission at Narayanpur and the 150 anniversary of the Swami Vivekananda.

     The President also laid foundation stone for two 500-seat hostels, at the district headquarters Narayanpur with a cost of Rs 14.5 Crore.

     He also dedicated an Industrial Training Institute at the Ashram premise.

     Mukherjee urged the youth of Chhattisgarh to learn from the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and equip themselves in every possible way to contribute to the development of the State.

     He hoped that the teachings of Swami Vivekananda imparted to the students along with mainstream education would help them to shape their character, make them ever willing to contribute to social change everywhere.

     Education- embedded in values of peace, tolerance and humanity, which was at the same time relevant to society and the economy- was the best antidote for violence, intolerance and inequality, he said.

     Governor Shekhar Dutt and Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh also addressed the function.
