Raipur, December 13, 2008: The supporters and opposers of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi today clashed in the venue where the Congress Legislature Party was meeting to decide its leader.
Before the meeting, however, the Congress was seen divided into two groups and both were trying to project their leaders as the natural choice for the post of the Leader of Opposition and clashed amid slogan shouting.
After meeting some party MLAs at his residence, senior leader Ravindra Choubey said he was a natural claimant for the post of the CLP leader or the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly.
Choubey said if the signature campaign by the Jogi camp was ignored and individually the MLAs are asked to give their choice then definitely he would be a natural choice of the party MLAs.
Meanwhile, a prominent leader from the Jogi camp Nand Kumar Patel told ChhattisgarhTopNews.Com that the majority of the party MLAs wanted Jogi to lead them in the state assembly and if the party high command was not agreed to that than the name of some one else could be considered.
The statement of the senior leader also had an indication that the party high command may reject the name of Jogi and in that case Patel could be the candidate from that camp.
AICC General Secretaries Janardan Dwivedi, B K Hari Prasad and V Narayan Samy were present in that meeting as the Central Observers.
