Rajnandgaon, September 7, 2008: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh had a providential escape today but in the lapse in security arrangement one of the efficient commando of the state Asad Khan was seriously injured in Rajnandgaon district.
When the Chief Minister was dedicating a cow-shed in Pinjarapol Gausala, one of the cows attempted to attack him while she was being offered sweets by Singh, police sources said adding the Chief Minister had a providential escape because of the alertness of the CM security staff.
When the cow attempted to hit the Chief Minister head on Super Commando Asad Khan jumped before the cow and saved Singh but in that incident he received grievous injuries and was initially taken to Rajnandgaon District Hospital and then looking into his condition he was shifted to Specialised Hospital of the Bhilai Steel Plant.
The sensitive Chief Minister immediately asked his officials to use his helicopter for airlifting Asad to a better hospital for immediate treatment and said he would return back to Raipur by road.
Singh had also visited Asad at the Sector 9 Hospital and enquired about his health condition, as he had been put in Intensive Care Unit for having spinal and other injuries.
The incident had also exposed the lack of proper security arrangement by the district administration for the Chief Minister, who has a Z-Plus security round the clock, as the cow selected to be offered sweet was not roped at the time of the incident.
