Raipur, July 25, 2024: In a major decision, BJP government in Chhattisgarh today decided to start the construction of abandoned controversial Sky Walk project of Raipur City.
A meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, today decided to complete the Sky Walk project of the Raipur city, Deputy Chief Minister-PWD Arun Sao told reporters here.
The project had attracted lot of politics and allegations and counter allegations in the last part of third term of the Raman Singh government.
After Bhupesh Baghel became Chief Minister in 2018, the project was abandoned alleging that the “symbol of corruption” Sky Walk was a faulty, wrong engineering design and a wasteful expenditure.
Before coming to power Baghel and his Congress party had promised to the people that the Sky Walk would be demolished, but nothing like that had happened. Rather the decision was dragged for a longer period and at the fag end of his tenure Bhupesh Government had decided not to demolish the Sky Walk.
“It was decided today in the meeting to complete the project early,” Dy CM Sao said adding if the drawing and design needed, that would be re-visited.
The meeting today also decided to complete the Sharda Chowk to Tatya Para chowk road broadening work as soon as possible. And for that, all bottlenecks would be removed, he said.
