Rajim, February 9, 2009: Over 2000 saints are participating in the Rajim Kumbh, which would continue for a fortnight from today at the holy place of Rajim in Raipur District.
On the meeting point of Pairi, Sondhur and Mahanadi, at Rajim, over 2000 prominent saints from Haridwar, Nasik and Vanaras besides Chhattisgarh and also thousands of people would take their holy dip at the Rajim Kumbh from today.
For a fortnight lakhs of people would thronged the mela place, and for their better arrangements the Raipur District Administration and the Culture Department have made elaborate security arrangements and deployed as many as 11 magistrates and huge security forces.
Steps have also been taken to provide safe drinking water, health care and electricity facilities to the visitors and participants, officials said.
As many as 22 subsidised cooked food centres, Annapurna Dal Bhat Kendra, have also been opened in the Kumbh site, they said.
Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik was inaugurating it in a grand function in the evening with state Culture Minister Brij Mohan Agrawal as the Chief Guest, officials said.
