Ambikapur, February 9, 2010: Looking into the shrinking size of sugar cane field in Chhattisgarh, the state government has decided to give a subsidy of Rs 2500 to its farmers to boost its production.
The State Government owned Maa Mahamaya Cooperative Sugar Mill has decided to give farmers Rs 2500 per hector for sugar cane production.
But officials clarified that the farmers, who would reach an agreement with the Cooperative Sugar Mill, would be given a subsidy of Rs 2500 against the sugar cane seeds.
The farmers from Pratappur, Surajpur, Rajpur, Lundra, Batouli, Sitapur and Lakhanpur blocks would be getting the subsidy, as these are the areas which could be called the catchment area for sugarcane supply for the sugar factory.
