     Raipur, November 4, 2009: Chhattisgarh government has decided to give a bonus of Rs 50 per quintal of paddy to the farmers from the last month.

    The farmers would be paid a bonus of Rs 50 per quintal with effect from October 12, officials said today.

     Currently the state government was purchasing paddy from over 1330 procurement centres of the state in a price of Rs 950 for common variety and Rs 980 for Grade-A variety paddy.

     After the announcement, the new price of common variety paddy would be Rs 1000 where as Grade A would touch Rs 1030, the officials said.

     Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has directed the Food and Civil Supply Department to go for a widest campaign, including putting up banners and posters in the procurement centres and villages to inform the farmers about the bonus of Rs 50, they said.
