Raipur, November 01, 2015: Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today inaugurated the Rajyotshav function on its foundation day.
Chhattisgarh was carved out from Madhya Pradesh on November 1, 2000.
Jaitley also gave away awards to the people, selected from various fields by the state government.
Chhattisgarh has achieved speedy development after its creation, said Jaitley.
The Union Minister said the Centre will provide all assistance to the state to combat drought.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh also addressed the people on this occasion and remembered the contribution of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in creation of Chhattisgarh.
Singh also announced to provide free seeds to 22 lakh farmers and 1500 units electricity to them as the state was facing a drought situation.
The Chief Minister also congratulated the people of the state on the foundation day of the state.
Governor Balramjee Das Tandon and Speaker Gouri Shankar Agrawal also spoke on this occasion.
