     Jagdalpur, March 02, 2011: The vast track of agricultural land in Chhattisgarh rendered unused has pained the state Governor Shekhar Dutt.

     About 75 per cent population of the state are living in villages in Chhattisgarh, because of which the rural economy had to be strengthen, Dutt said yesterday inaugurating the four-day long Chitrakote Mahotshav, a festival on the bank of Chitrakote fall here in Bastar district.

       But, he said he had seen and felt that lakh acres of land are left here without any cultivation.

     There should be extra emphasis on developing irrigation infrastructure in the state and especially medium and small irrigation facilities, the Governor said.

     No unused land can be worshipped, he said adding Agriculture, Horticulture, Pisciculture, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation and Cooperation departments along with the villagers to ensure that all lands in the state should be cultivated.
