Raipur, July 7, 2024: Villagers have attacked a forest department team in Gariaband district when they had gone for inspection and removal of encroachments in the forest land.
When a Forest Ranger with his team of three other staff reached a spot in Udanti Sitanadi Sanctuary to remove encroachment in Touranga, about two dozen people had allegedly attacked them.
The forest team was assaulted and injured by the villagers, sources said.
The villagers have been accused of forcibly taking away money and mobiles and removing the clothes, the forest team was assaulted severely.
Somehow the team managed to reach Mainpur and undergone treatment.
The ranger has also complaint to the police of the alleged assault.
